Happy Pioneer Day

In honor of the amazing people who came across the plains to settle this amazing state I would like to say thank you. I come form many wonderful pioneers on my moms side of the family. I have been blessed to be named after one of them Lydia Knight. She was a very strong woman and I proud to share my name with her. If you would like to learn more about her here is a link to her personal history.

You know your a redneck when...

So I had to run a few earned for work this morning and when I walked back in my office I was like "Why is there a naked guy in my office?' because there was a guy at the counter with no shirt on. He told the CSR helping him he just forgot to ware a shirt today. Who does that?
So you know your a redneck if you go to your insurance agents office with no shirt on.

4th of July Weekend

My it's been a busy weekend. Thursday and Friday Kory had a baseball tournament in Park City they ended up 2-2. My brother-in-law and his wife came into town so we ended up staying up to late. Saturday I went and watched Eclipse finally (it's pretty good). They we went up by the temple to watch the BBQ and watch the fireworks with Robert's family and some friends. It's always a good time. On Sunday my parents and Robert's family came over and we had a great dinner, yum. Finally on Monday we went to the parade before I had to take Arrie to EFY. Then we went and watched Toy Story 3. It was busy but we had a great weekend.

What a game!

Kory team has had a great year in little league this year. They were 15-0 going into the championship game last night. We had tough competition because the team we had to play is really good. They have the best pitcher in the league pitching against us the whole game.
In the top of the 1st inning they had two men on and their pitcher was up and hit a 3 run home run. In the bottom of the 1st inning we had one man on and Kory at the plate and he his a 2 run home run.
The score stayed 3-2 until the 6th and last inning. Kory was pitching for the Angels and was able to hold them one more inning. Luckily we were home team and got our last at bats to try and tie it up and go into extra innings or hopefully win. By this time I was so nervous that I was bouncing around.
Sadly we were at the bottom three of our line up. The 1st kid gets up to bat and bunts but is thrown out at 1st. The 2nd kid get up to the plate and same thing. Now we have 2 out, last batter in our line up and we are down by 1. Now I'm really starting to stress. Our kid bunts straight up the 3rd base line and they bobble it a little, miss the throw and he's safe. Now we are at the top of our line up with 2 outs and a man on 1st.
Our kid on 1st is able to steel 2nd and then 3rd. So now we have a man in scoring position. Our batter hits the ball just pass the 2nd baseman and scores the runner on 3rd.
Now the score is tied, so at least we will go into extra innings but we want to end it now if possible. The next batter gets up and gets a base hit and advances the runner to 3rd. So we have a man on 1st and 3rd. The next batter gets up to the plate. Now last time we faced this team they were up by 2 with bases loaded and decided not to walk in a run and this boy hit a grandslam so this time the decide to walk him. (Good idea, I would have done the same thing)
Now we have 2 outs, bases loaded tied game and who is at the plate? You guessed it, Kory! Now I'm totally shacking, I'm tring to take pitchers so thank heavens I could rest my camera against the fence because my hands were shacking so bad. As his at bat progresses we end up with a full count, 2 outs and a tied game. Everyone is just freaking out. Here comes the pitch, it's a little out side to Kory swings to foul it off and what do you know but it goes, and goes and over the fence, IT'S A WALKOFF GRANDSLAM!!!!
Arrie starts cring, Robert almost cries, Grandpa Hernandez would be dancing if he could even walk, I'm just shacking and jumping.
I was the best game!

Here's the grandslam swing, as you can tell his stance is horible who would have guessed that it would have been such a great hit.
I know this was a long story but it's worth it.

How time flys

Wow, February is almost over already. I'm still not used to it being 2010. It sure has been a while since I posted. Things are keeping me quite busy. It is really busy at work and when I get home between the kids I'm always running some where. They are all doing well. Aaron is enjoying basketball and has started practicing with his baseball team. Kory is playing basketball and he is loving meeting with Coach Applegate for extra pitching practice, he's been going since November, his baseball team is also starting to practice. Arrie is enjoying volleyball, she is always ready to hang out with her friends and now she wants to run for Sophomore class president. Roberts dad is still in the hospital so we try and see him every night. He's doing better but he won't be home for at least 20 more days while he continues his rehabs from amputating his leg. I'll try to keep everyone updated on life but I can't promise anything.

Where did this kid come from?

As everyone knows I have a out going teenage girl. She isn't like any teenage girl that I've ever meet. Well she went into her bi-yearly interview with the bishop last month and during that interview volunteered to talk in Sacrament meeting. A week or so later Kory got asked to speak. He wasn't excited but he was willing to do it and glad to have it over. Arrie then a few weeks later reminded the bishop that she would like to talk. Nothing came of it so last Sunday she was talking to the bishop and his counselor who is in charge of getting youth speakers and reminded them again that she was willing to speak. They asked her to speak Sunday and her best friend in the ward was standing next to her so she volunteered to speak too. Both girls spoke together on Sunday not only for the 3-5 minutes that they that had been asked to fill but they both prepared 10 min. talks. They both did a great job. As if this wasn't enough Arrie in talking to the bishop later at church went ahead and volunteered to speak next week as well if he needed her. He jokingly told her he would love to have her but it will be Skate Conference. Well, Arrie didn't hesitate for a second and said "I'll speak in skate conference, call President Bell." Again she reminded him at the end of church that she was willing to speak and that he should call President Bell. I just don't know where she came from. I'm willing to speak if asked but it's a bit scary for me to get up in front of everyone and present a talk. I defiantly never would have volunteered to speak at her age. She is one of a kind.
