Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. It is full of food, family and fun. We are blessed to be able to enjoy both Thanksgiving's. We get to go to my families and then come home and enjoy Robert's family. So hopfully I don't gain more than 10 lbs.

Time to Unplug

Kory's teacher has given his class a change for the week, no TV, no video games, no computer (except for homework). Could you do it? We did it when Arrie was in his class and it is not to easy. I'm going to try and do it again with Kory (I'm cheating on Thursday night to see Twilight). We'll see how good I do this time around.

Music

Music is a wonderfully powerful thing. I bought David Archuleta's CD yesterday. When Arrie found out she reacted like any other 13 year old, she was so happy she that she almost cried. Music can change your mood so powerfully. This morning I wasn't in the best mood. I've been tired and worn out. On my drive to work I pulled out my phone and started playing The Carpenters. I know it's probably not cool but Karen Carpenter is my favorite singer of all time. There is something about her voice that makes me happy. As I followed her advise to sing, sing out loud, sing out strong even though I'm not good enough for anyone else to hear I sang, sang a song. Then a strange thing happened, I started to feel better. I don't know why her music makes me so happy. Maybe it brings me back to when I was a little girl and had no cares or worries. My sisters and I would run around the house with her record (yes I said record) playing, singing into hair brushes. For whatever reason my mood improved even though I'm still tired. Music is great.

Zeek

Kory went on his first scout camp out on Friday. His scout troop went to Topaz Mountain. He had a great time even though he was cold. His favorite thing is that he came home with a new friend. He and another boy both caught lizards. They put them in a cooler and brought them home. Kory walked in the house with his hat held tightly closed in his hands. Inside was his new little friend. He has named it Zeek. We put him in a jar and made some holes in the top so he had a place to stay for the weekend. Robert caught a fly and we put it in his jar so that he had a little food. Today Robert went and bought him a roomer place to live. He also bought a bunch crickets to feed him. So now we have a lizard and a jar full of crickets. The boys are loving it. Welcome to the family Zeek.

Daylight Savings

For some strange reason we change the time twice a year. I'm not sure why we have this ritual every spring and fall but it always throws my internal clock into a panic. My body thinks that it's going to bed an hour late every night but it wakes up at the same time it has been witch means I'm awake at 5:30 every morning instead of 6:30. I'm tired by 6:30 every night because it's so dark but I can't go to sleep because it's so early. The most frustrating part is that by the time my internal clock adjusts to the new time we will need to "spring" the clocks forward. So if you see me walking around like a zombie please be understanding.
