How life can change

One thing that life has taught me is that you never know what life will bring you. We have had a wonderful but busy Christmas season. I made my mom cry when she opened her present and one of my sisters made me cry a little when she expressed her joy in all that people had helped her with over the last little while. Christmas eve was so nice. We had everyone over to our house for dinner. Again this year we have been blessed to have both sets of grandparents there to celebrate. Dinner of course was delicious. We always have a short program after dinner. This year was extra special. The spirit was very strong. It was, I have to say probably the best one we have ever had. We of course opened presents from extended family. (This is when I made my mom cry) Christmas morning was so pleasant. We enjoyed opening presents with the kids and eating a big breakfast. We went and watched a movie with some family. When we got home we got to enjoy another delicious dinner with Robert's family and my parents. Again it was another wonderful night with family and got to see some close friends. I can't remember a better Christmas. I have felt so peaceful and full of joy.
Today has been a bit different. Last night my father-in-law wasn't feeling that good. We called his nurse and thought that things would be OK. This morning he was feeling worse. Things aren't good with his health this time. It's not an uncommon thing to see grandpa in the hospital after a big weekend but this time is different. We have had a pretty emotional day but at this point I think we all feel at peace. We know we are in the Lord's hands. What ever might happen at this point we some how be OK. I don't know what's in store for the next week but we will take it as it comes and trust in the Lord.

Movie weekend

It was an exciting weekend for movies. I took Arrie to see "New Moon" on Friday afternoon. I didn't plan ahead in time to get midnight tickets. We went with one of Arrie's friends and her mom. I thought it was better than the first one, but I am a big Jacob fan. He did not disappoint. He did a really good job bringing out Jacob personality and he did a really good job getting Jacobs body. Arrie is even more in love.
We can home and got to visit with my brother in law and his wife and youngest son who came into town for Thanksgiving. Their three older kids are here going to school.

Last night we went to see "The blindside". I have been more excited about this movie than I was about "New Moon" and it didn't disappoint. It was a bit of a chore to find tickets but it was worth all the hassle. We headed over to the Provo Town theater about 7 because Robert said he had check online and it said they had tickets. We get over there and it has now sold out so we all run over to the Windsong theater and when we get there it isn't sold out but it is just starting and the only seats left are on the front row. So we decide to go back to the Provo Town theater to see the 9:45 show because when we where there earlier it wasn't sold out. Well when we show up you guessed it it was now sold out. Robert, Arrie, her friend Amanda and my nephew Ryan decide to stay and see "2012" but the rest of us don't want to see it so we all leave. As Robert is about to order his tickets to "2012" they take to sold sign off "The Blindside". The theater decided to move it into a theater that was bigger and 100 more tickets open up. He buys the tickets and calls us to hurry back. It was a crazy night but I'm glad we got to see the movie, it was worth all the hassle.

Thank you Veteran's

Happy Veteran's day everyone. If you forgot it was Veteran's day until the mail didn't come or you couldn't go to the bank don't worry that always happens to me. Sadly it's not a holiday I think much about most years, but this year turned out different.

This year the boys school had a program to honor veterans and Aaron was singing with the choir. He asked his Grandpa Hernandez to come (his Grandpa Horsley was serving at the genealogy center). After singing some songs the boys got to introduce Grandpa Hernandez. He was the only veteran who had served in WWII. It was so toughing hearing the music and seeing the men who came to be recognized. I have to admit it helped me really appreciate the men who have served our country over the years. This is Grandpa Hernandez when he served it the Navy in WWII

Here is a photo of my dad when he served in the Navy in the Vietnam war

Happy Veterans' Day to all you vets out there, thank you for your service.

Where did the week go?

I'm not really sure what happened this week. I have been meaning to post about Halloween but I just haven't found a chance to sit down and get it done. Well, I finally have a moment to sit at the computer so I will let everyone know how things went last weekend.
We didn't have a chance to carve our pumpkins until Saturday afternoon. It's always fun seeing what everyone chooses to carve.
It's so much nicer now that all the kids are big enough to do every thing on their pumpkin by them self.
Who doesn't love getting your self all covered in pumpkin guts.
Arrie hung out with friends all night. They all dressed up as Barbie's.
Robert took the boys out trick-or-treating. Kory was a ghost, Aaron was Chucky, Robert was a Giants fan and our nephew Chad was Lincecum(a pitcher for the Giants).
I enjoy staying home and passing out candy to all the trick-or-treaters.

Moab Fun

Well, I guess it's been a while. How life gets away from you sometimes. We have been so busy just keeping up with life that I didn't fully realize how long it has been since I posted.
The kids had some time off of school for fall break last week so we ran down to Moab to go camping.
We spent most of our time hiking in Arches National Park.
Arrie and Robert are admiring Balance Rock.

Here are the boys making some rock formations of there own.

Of course boys will be boys and if there are rocks to climb on they will be jumping off.

Arrie joined right in the fun.

Careful Kory.

We even made it to the most famous arch in the park called Delicate Arch. It was the hardest hike we went on but it was sure worth it.
It was great to stop and take a break from the craziness of life and just enjoy some of our beautiful state.

Kory's 12th Birthday

My little boy has turned 12 today. Wow, how time flies. We didn't give him any presents or throw him a party this year. Instead Robert took him to the BYU vs Oklahoma game in the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. He hasn't complained.
Two of his friends from his baseball team and their dad's also went to the game. It was a fun little boys trip.
They went on a tour of the stadium and said that it is awesome. It topped off the weekend when BYU won.

Fall sports are keeping us busy!

Things have been keeping us really busy. Fall is here and all three kids are each playing a different sport.
Aaron is playing fall baseball.

Kory is playing tackle football this year. He's playing quarterback.

And as you can see Arrie is so excited to play volleyball.

As you can tell the kids are having lots of fun.
